Message from the President

Welcome to our 66th Season

Cathy Bauerle DBSS President

It is a great honor to be your President of the Daytona Beach Symphony Society as we celebrate our 66th Season! As a long time season subscriber and sponsor, I am passionate about the performing arts and love the classics. I am truly grateful for the trust that has been placed in me and will continue the leadership tradition set by our wonderful past presidents.

I am continuing our theme of “Awareness.” We want everyone in our community to be aware of the beautiful symphonic music, opera, and dance performances we bring in from around the world and present right here in Daytona Beach each year. I also hope to extend our outreach and raise awareness even beyond Volusia and Flagler Counties, into the greater Central Florida region.

Our dedication to enriching the community for residents and visitors is further fueled by our mission to inspire our youth. Since 1995, we have been proud to offer the YES! (Youth Experiencing Symphony) Program. We work with almost 70 schools in Volusia County to share the incredible experience of the performing arts with 250+ students each performance. When you see these youths at the Peabody, please say hello and welcome them.

And furthering our dedication to inspiring youth, this year we sponsored a special two concert performance day with the Orlando Philharmonic, reaching over 4,000 of our Volusia County Schools fifth graders.
Our community programs also include our family, student and military discounts, along with the free pre-performance lectures that take place an hour before each performance.

We could not do this without each and every one of you! We thank you for your gracious support through your Season Subscriptions or Single Ticket purchase. And did you know that your ticket purchases account for 48% of the performance costs? The rest is covered by corporate and private sponsors, fundraising events, grants and “grassroots” contributions. So as part of our Symphony Family, please help us enrich our community by spreading the word about us to your family, friends and colleagues and donating when you can. For more information, including details on our fundraisers and how to become a sponsor, please visit our website or call the office at 386-253-2901.

And finally, when you see me or any of our Board members at a concert or an event, please say hello and let us know if you have any questions. We want to make sure your experience is delightful.
Thank you from the Bottom of My Heart,

Catherine Bauerle
