The Daytona Beach Symphony Society’s 65th Season Brings Historic, New Leadership!
DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (May 23, 2016) – The Daytona Beach Symphony Society is proud to announce that our 2016-17 Season will bring new and historic leadership to the Symphony Society and Symphony Guild.
At the DBSS Annual Meeting on Thursday, May 19th, Ms. Catherine Bauerle was installed as the new President on the Symphony Society Board of Directors. Residing in Ponce Inlet, Ms. Bauerle is a longtime season subscriber and concert sponsor, and has served on the Symphony Society Board since 2010. As a member of the Symphony Guild since 2008, Ms. Bauerle most recently served as Guild President for three seasons, from 2013-14 through 2015-16.
“I am honored to be named President of the Symphony Society!” says President Bauerle, “My theme for our 2016-17 Season is ‘Awareness.’ We want everyone in our community to be aware of the beautiful symphonic music, opera and dance performances we have right here in Daytona Beach each year.”
And at the May monthly meeting, on May 2nd, of the Symphony Guild, Ormond Beach resident, Ms. Guardine Wright-Gibson was installed as the 30th President of the Symphony Guild. A season subscriber and Society Board member since 2014, Ms. Wright-Gibson’s Guild presidency marks an important milestone in the organization’s 62 year history, as the first African-American President.
“The significance of this opportunity does not escape me,” says President Wright-Gibson. “The Guild has become my passion and I will serve as the President of this wonderful organization to the best of my abilities, and with heartfelt thanks to all of our Past Presidents, who provided the foundation on which I now stand.”
The Daytona Beach Symphony Society’s 2016-17 Season will include the Vienna Boys’ Choir, the opera Carmen, and world-renown violinist, Sarah Chang. Full details on the 65th Season will be announced very soon.
