One of the nation’s top regional orchestras, we welcome our beloved neighbor, the Jacksonville Symphony, for a thrilling afternoon of power and passion, featuring two monumental works: the Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 3 and the emotionally gripping Shostakovich Symphony No. 5. One of the most difficult of all piano concertos, the “Rach 3” (featured in the acclaimed 1996 film, Shine) will be performed by Behzod Abduraimov, Grand Prize winner of the 2009 London International Piano Competition. Another rising young star, Australian conductor Nathan Aspinall joined the Jacksonville Symphony is 2016 and will be appearing in a Symphony Society performance for the very first time.
