FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Scottish Superstar Nicola Benedetti and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra visit Peabody Auditorium on Friday, March 22nd!

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (February 28, 2017) – The Daytona Beach Symphony Society proudly presents the Royal Scottish National Orchestra featuring Scottish Superstar Nicola Benedetti, violin, at Peabody Auditorium (600 Auditorium Blvd, Daytona Beach, FL 32118), on Wednesday, March 22nd, 7:00 pm.

In their first tour of the United States in 35 years, and celebrating their 125th year in 2016, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra has helped shape the musical life of a nation. The orchestra will be led by the dynamic maestro and RSNO Music Director, Peter Oundjian. And heralded by the Chicago Tribune for “the depth and sheen of her tone, wizardry of her technique and emotional weight of her renditions,” Scottish Superstar Nicola Benedetti will perform Brahms Violin Concerto in D Major.

The evening’s musical program will also include Debussy’s  Prelude a L’après-midi d’un faune and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 in F minor.

Prior to the concert, at 5:45 pm, six members of the Daytona Beach Pipes & Drums, in traditional dress, will be performing in front of the Peabody Auditorium, to festively kick off the evening.

And the free Pre-Concert Talk will be given by Dr. Rose Grace, in the Rose Room, at 6:00 pm.

“As we close out our 65th Season, we also look ahead to 2017-18, when our new season will include Opening Night with the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra featuring 2016 Tchaikovsky Competition winner, Dmitry Masleev, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra from London, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba!” adds Tracy Marino, Director of Marketing and Development.

Single tickets ($39-$68) can be purchased in person at the Peabody Auditorium Box Office, online at dbss.org or by calling 800-745-3000. For more information, call the Symphony Society office at 386-253-2901.
