YES! Program
Youth Experiencing Symphony
Daytona Beach Symphony Society started the YES! Program in 1995. Now going in its 26th season, we have invested over one and a half million ($1.5M) dollars. YES! targets at-risk students 6-18 years old, many of whom are enrolled in Volusia County Title I Schools. A Title I school has at least 40% of its students at or below the national poverty level. We work with over 70 Volusia County Schools, private schools and homeschoolers reaching over 2,500 students per year (250-300 per DBSS performance).
About Us
Donate to the YES! Program today
The students experience 6-7 live DBSS performances each season at Peabody Auditorium. Immediately after the concert, opera or dance, students attend a personal question-and-answer period with the performers, get autographs and personal encouragement. In addition to providing free tickets, the Symphony Society pays for bus transportation, Volusia County school coordinators, and refreshments during intermission.
Since its inception, the YES! Program has introduced over 60,000 local students to classical music. Volusia County Schools Board has recognized the Daytona Beach Symphony Society for YES! and the unique profound artistic experiences offered to the Volusia County students.
YES! is made possible through grants, YES! sponsors, and YES! contributions. This investment helps give local students the chance to experience classical music…many for the first time!
